BOSCO SODI PRESENTS MURO, NEW YORK, 7 SEPTEMBER

BOSCO SODI PRESENTS MURO

Bosco Sodi, will install Muro (Wall) in Washington Square Park, New York on 7 September. The artist’s first public installation in the city, Muro is a 2-meter high by 8-meter long wall, constructed with clay timbers that Sodi fired by hand at his studio in Oaxaca, México, with the help of local craftsman. Throughout the day, Sodi will invite the public to help remove the wall and take home one of the 1,600 signed clay bricks.

Speaking to the New York Times about the political context for the project he said, ‘I wanted to create a wall made by Mexicans with Mexican earth...’ and added that many of the people with whom he fired the clay timbers had entered the United States illegally at some point in their lives.
