Mat Collishaw’s critically acclaimed virtual reality artwork Thresholds transfers from Somerset House, London to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery on 24 June. A fully immersive portal to the past, Collishaw has collaborated with a host of experts including: VR specialists, architectural historians and world experts on photography to restage one of the earliest exhibitions of photography.

The experience delivers multiple levels of reality and was called ‘… a full-on sensory experience’ and  ‘Mat Collishaw’s virtual reality magnum opus’ by The Art Newspaper; the Sunday Times said 'his VR show is genius'. Thresholds will coincide with Developed in Birmingham, a season of hands-on workshops, talks, walks and events which reveal, explore and celebrate the city’s significant role in the early history of photography.
