YINKA SHONIBARE MBE IN A SERIES OF TALKS ACROSS THE UK
Yinka Shonibare MBE will take part in several live talks around the UK this September.
Hear the artist discuss his new work, Mrs Pinckney and the Emancipated birds of South Carolina at the King’s State Apartments at Kensington Palace on 4 September. The work was part of the Enlightened Princesses exhibition which surveyed the intellectual and cultural world of the 18th-century Enlightenment through the lives of the German princesses who married into Britain’s Hanoverian dynasty. This event will be an in conversation with Glenn Adamson (Museum of Arts and Design in NYC and London’s Victoria & Albert Museum). Tickets are available here.
On 23 September Shonibare will be in conversation with BBC broadcaster and Daily Telegraph critic Alastair Sooke, as part of the Art Out Loud Festival, at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire.
Yinka Shonibare MBE RA and WESSIELING join Matisse in the Studio co-curator Ellen McBreen for Provocations in art: Cultural Appropriation, a panel discussion artists to examine the ethical and artistic considerations of cultural appropriation within the arts. The discussion takes place on 29 September, 6.30pm at Royal Academy, London. Tickets are available here
