This exhibition at the The Brant Foundation Art Study Center in Connecticut brings together a selection of Clemente’s works from museum collections and art patrons around the world. A concise but comprehensive survey of the artist’s work, the pieces in this exhibition span 40 years of his career and various different media.
The works presented include self-portraits and portraits, works on paper, frescoes, monumental oil and watercolour paintings, and one of Clemente’s striking, hand-painted tents. These works, created in disparate destinations, are united by the artist’s continual questioning of spirituality, mysticism and the nature of the self.
