Marius Bercea, A Full Rotation of the Moon, at the Cluj Museum of Art is the Romanian artist's first solo show in his home city and surveys his work from the past decade. The exhibition focuses on Bercea's socio-geographical hybrid urban landscapes in contrast with more verdant, classically composed paintings.
Bercea’s practice is informed by Romania’s shift in the late 80’s from Communism into a Capitalist free market economy and his works allude to the visual paradoxes generated by modernity. This new exhibition presents the artist’s exploration of a central-European perspective of the West, balancing visual pleasure with intellectual inquisitiveness through a range of media including drawing, painting, video and installation.
A Full Rotation of the Moon is at Cluj Museum of Art, Cluj, Romania, from 9 to 31 May 2017.
