Mat Collishaw's largest UK show to date and his first in a UK public gallery for over ten years. The exhibition testified to the richness and breadth of Collishaw’s practice and included sculpture, photography, film and installation.
Included in the exhibition was All Things Fall (2014). Based on the Biblical story of the Massacre of the Innocents, it combines old technology in the form of a zoetrope with modern 3D printing. The optical illusion engages and seduces the viewer before they fully realise they are complicit in a scene of genocide.
Concurrent with the exhibition in Walsall, Collishaw presented a specially commissioned work in the gallery of the Library of Birmingham, inspired by the Library’s renowned photography collections.
