With three new large-scale textile pieces on show, Abdoulaye Konaté features prominently as a guest artist in this year’s edition of Videobrasil - one of Brazil’s largest mixed media contemporary art biennials. Alluding to West-African traditions through textile-based installations he investigates means of commemoration and communication - a central theme in his year’s edition of the festival.

Konaté is also is part of a group show Art_Textiles at The Whitworth Art Gallery, The Art Fund’s 2015 Museum of the Year. Opening on 10 Oct, the exhibition explores the way artists have used textiles as a powerful tool for expressing ideas.
