Bill Viola’s The Crossing is part of You Are Here: Light, Color, and Sound Experiences, at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Opening on 7 April the exhibition features immersive art installations by leading contemporary artists who employ a diverse range of media to create intriguing experiences that engage the senses, activate the imagination, and provide connections between the viewer and the work of art. Rich in metaphor and inspired by the common spiritual beliefs of the East and West, The Crossing is a room-sized video installation that comprises a large two-sided screen which reveals the cycles and dualities of life through the universal symbols of fire and water.
Other participating artists include; James Turrell, Janet Cardiff, Olafur Eliasson, and Ragnar Kjartansson.
