Continuing a year of major solo museum exhibitions, Bill Viola will open three new exhibitions this month.
Part of the institution’s three-year Media Arts Watch programme, Bill Viola opens at the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester, New York on 11 October.
The Crypt of San Sepolcro in Milan, Italy hosts Bill Viola alla Cripta di San Sepolcro, showcasing three video artworks in a dialogue between the ancient sacred space and core themes in Viola’s works. 17 October - 28 January 2018.
As part of its 10th anniversary celebrations, DHC/ART Foundation for Contemporary Art, Montréal, Québec presents Naissance à Rebours. Bringing together flat panel video works and projections the exhibition includes Viola’s most recent major installation, Inverted Birth (2014). On view for the first time in Canada, this monumental projection depicts the five stages of awakening through a series of violent transformations, exploring the very nature of our existence: and rebirth. 25 October - 11 March 2018Back to news
