Blain|Southern is pleased to host Beyond Borders - an exhibition and auction in aid of Unicef’s Children of Syria Emergency Appeal. The exhibition is organised by Unicef’s Next Generation - a group of young professionals who commit their time and resources to support Unicef’s work through education, fundraising and advocacy, on behalf of the world’s most vulnerable children. It will feature a range of work in various mediums by leading contemporary artists including Diana Al-Hadid, Ali Banisadr, Y.Z. Kami, Marius Bercea, Moshekwa Langa, Athier Mousawi and Nasan Tur.

Beyond Borders will take place the week commencing 16 May and will be accompanied by a programme of related events. Following the private view, Beyond Borders will host a panel discussion at Blain|Southern focusing on art and conflict. Dr. Anna Marazuela Kim, Andrew W Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellow at The Courtauld specialising in image and violence, will moderate the conversation between HRH Alia Al-Senussi and Tammam Azzam  the Syrian contemporary artist primarily known for his large-scale projections of Western paintings onto bombed out buildings in Syria.

Beyond Borders will culminate in a live auction at the gallery, with pre-bidding online powered by Paddle8. All of the proceeds will go towards Unicef’s Children of Syria Emergency Appeal.

Syria is one of the most dangerous places on earth to be a child, with more than 5.6 million children in urgent need of help in Syria, and up to 2 million children living in areas largely cut off from humanitarian assistance. With an additional 2 million Syrian children now living as refugees, Unicef is working around the clock to reach every child in immediate danger; your support is greatly appreciated.
