Francesco Clemente’s solo exhibition Winter Flowers and the Tree of Life opens on the 28 June at Santa Maria della Scala, in Siena, Italy. Ten new paintings, Winter Flowers, are based on Clemente’s observations of flowering plants during the coldest months of the year in the USA. A large-scale painting of the Tree of Life, is part of his exploration of emblems found in the iconography of contemplative traditions – an ongoing theme in the artist’s work.

Winter Flowers and the Tree of Life is at Santa Maria della Scala from 28 June - 2 October 2016
