The Grand Palais, Paris, presents the first ever retrospective in France of Bill Viola's work, running until 21st July 2014.

The exhibition features twenty major works, spanning all four decades of Viola's career, from The Reflecting Pool (1977-79) to The Dreamers (2013). It represents one of the largest ever exhibitions of the artist's work, alongside previous major shows of Viola's oeuvre at museums including MOMA, New York; The National Gallery, London and the Guggenheim Museum (Bilbao, Berlin & New York).

Viola has described this retrospective as an inner journey, divided into three phases that centre around the metaphysical questions: Who am I? Where am I? Where am I going? In this vein, his work explores fundamental questions concerning life, death, transcendence, rebirth, time and space - questions that reside at the core of human existence.
