Michael Simpson’s first solo exhibition in China opens at the Shanghai Minsheng Art Museum on 10 April.

Selected Works of Michael Simpson presents a group of Simpson’s recent Squint Paintings together with works on paper. Simpson was the winner of the prestigious John Moores Painting Prize in 2016; established in 1957, the biennial Prize is one of Britain's oldest art awards. In 2010, the competition was introduced into China and Simpson’s exhibition will be presented alongside the John Moore’s Painting Prize China 2018. This is the first time that works by a UK prizewinner will be shown alongside the China Prize, fostering an international exchange and critical discussion which is at the heart of the Prize’s intention.

Selected Works of Michael Simpson is at the Shanghai Minsheng Art Museum, Shanghai, China from 10 April – 15 June
