Nasan Tur will be presenting his work, Berlin Says… as part of the upcoming group exhibition, Wall Works at the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin. The exhibition will run from the 29th of November, 2013 until the 31st of August, 2014. This presentation of Berlin Says… will be the largest to-date, occupying a 17m wall in the Rieckhallen section of the museum. The work is comprised of hundreds of messages that had been grafittied around Berlin. The artist then replicates these sayings in red spray paint on the gallery or museum wall, layering them on top of one another until none are decipherable. The work calls into question the effectiveness of message-based graffiti as a form of expression as the illegibility of the individual statements speaks to the futility felt by marginalized groups and political activists striving to get their voice heard.

The exhibition presents the wall works in dialogue with other works from the collection of the NATIONALGALERIE, the FRIEDRICH CHRISTIAN FLICK COLLECTION IM HAMBURGER BAHNHOF, the MARX COLLECTION and the MARZONA COLLECTION, as well as new works by artists including Friederike Feldmann, Katharina Grosse and Nasan Tur that were especially created for the occasion of the exhibition.
