Nasan Tur’s public sculpture for the city of Göppingen will be inaugurated on 6 October. A collaboration with Kunstverein GöppingenSchalung (Shuttering) is the encasement in wood of a contentious war memorial in the city. Tur has described the work as a ‘reflection on an existing, very controversial and unremittingly politically-charged sculpture’. The original monument was commissioned by the Nazis but not destroyed after the war as it didn’t have a visible connection to the National Socialists.
