Rachel Howard’s painting You Can Save Me (2015) has been acquired by the Jerwood Collection and is currently on view in their New Acquisitions Room. Painted specifically for her solo exhibition at the Jerwood Gallery in 2015, the division of space in the work suggests a shifting seascape.  Howard commented: 'I grew up on a farm near the sea on the North East coast of England, and having a permanent horizon every day to look at gives a wonderful reassurance in what can be at times a very uncertain world. My show at Jerwood Gallery explored both these aspects of certainty and uncertainty.'

Also on view this month, Howard’s painting Square Circle (2015) is to be exhibited as part of the year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Now in its 248th year, the Summer Exhibition displays works in a variety of mediums and genres by emerging and established contemporary artists.

You Can Save Me is on display at the Jerwood Gallery until 3 July 2016

The Summer Exhibition 2016 is at Royal Academy of Arts in London, UK, from 13 June - 21 August 2016
