Tim Noble and Sue Webster will unite with Bo Ningen at this year’s Meltdown Festival, curated by Yoko Ono. They will be providing the visuals for the Japanese four piece’s free show at London’s Royal Festival Hall on 20th June 2013. Taking place after the sold out Iggy & the Stooge’s show, Bo Ningen will perform to a version of Noble and Webster’s HAIR animation, especially re-created for this event. This collaboration was previously debuted together at the 2011 Venice Biennale.
Speaking of this partnership, Sue Webster recalls, “I first saw Bo Ningen by accident at the Shoreditch 1-2-3-4 festival back in 2010. I had never seen anything like it – four Japanese gentlemen with hair down to their knees who played guitars with their teeth, naturally I was mesmerised.”
“After interviewing them for the music paper BEAT, I spent the next few weeks plucking long black hairs from the back of my sofa...this induced Tim and I to make ‘hair portraits’ of each member of the band, which metamorphed itself perfectly into the idea of creating an animation made entirely from their HAIR”.
