Yinka Shonibare MBE In London And Memphis

Yinka Shonibare MBE is one of 20 Royal Academicians participating in FOUND – the Foundling Museum’s latest exhibition curated by Cornelia Parker. The museum explores the history of the Foundling Hospital, established in 1739 to care for babies at risk of abandonment. Parker invited over sixty artists to respond to the museum’s heritage; taking inspiration from their collection of eighteenth-century tokens - small objects left by mothers with their babies as a means of identification should they ever return to claim their child.

FOUND is at The Foundling Museum from 27 May - 4 Sep 2016

Also opening this month, YINKA SHONIBARE MBE is the inaugural exhibition for Rotunda Projects at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. It comprises four figures from the artist’s Rage of the Ballet Gods and will be on view in the rotunda as part of the museum’s year-long centennial celebration.

ROTUNDA PROJECTS: YINKA SHONIBARE MBE is at Memphis Brooks Museum of Art from 7 May to 6 Nov 2016
